Catherynne's Treats

Well it is that time again on a Sunday where I let you know all that I have been up to and have a good natter with you all!

Last week I told you that I had decided to start to take a part some of my older jewellery to freshen it up and make something much snazzier. Well I have really enjoyed the ones I had done so decide that I needed just a few more beads and supplies to help me along my way wheee!!
I love buying new stock, but also love the whole shopping process of choosing beads and what not and deciding oooo that will go with that beautifully, ohh and that with this oooo yay :-)
I get all little kid ish at Christmas so this week my postman has been very very busy bringing me little packages from here there and everywhere.

I have been quite busy with my day job so haven't really had much chance to have a good making session till today!
Today I have made a very stunning long necklace with green and silver coloured beads.
I would love to show you a photo but unfortunately the blog seems to be experiencing technical problems boo hoo!
I do however have my Etsy link for you to have a look at here!

Oh so I guess if that is not working I cannot show you the set I have made for myself too here!
I guess you will have to click on the links then to see what they are!

Right I guess till next week that's it folks, I am signing off and am going to make some more pretty things and fingers crossed next week I will have a new handbag to show you as it's been aaaages since I made a handbag and I have a great idea for one!

Take care and see you soon

Catherynne's Treats

Sunday 20 January 2013

Hey Hello,

Catherynne's Treats

This week it has all been about time in our house.
Hubby to be started his new job this week and he is at work a very long time so in turn I am getting lots of time too. Time to sit and relax on an evening, time to do my exercise DVD (this baby weight needs shifting for the summer to fit into THE most delicious wedding dress) time to think about things and do things that never seem to get done.
So with all this time in mind I am writing lists, lots of lists of things that need doing that I just don't seem to get done as I get to the end of the day most days and think what did I actually get done today!! Is anyone else like that, you get to the end of the day and think where did today go what did I achieve??

So with that in mind I have started a job I have wanted to do for a while re vamp some of my jewellery pieces I have either not worn for a while or ones that I am just not quite happy with.

So first off I bought just before Christmas 7 fantastic handmade lampwork glass beads from a lovely lady in America from her Etsy shop called Moonflowerbeads. There was a beautiful focal flower bead and some soft graduated pink to purple beads too. I made them into a necklace with some very pretty matching earrings but wasn't fully happy with it as I wanted to make them into a bracelet but hadn't quite figured out which beads I wanted to go with it. I liked it but didn't love it and only wore it once. So this was first on the list so out came my pliers and it was cut up into pieces.

So now the beads were now looking up at me on our dining table saying 'now what Catherynne'?
I stared at them for a while and the beads kept saying 'bracelet Catherynne, we want to be a bracelet' so I listened to them and strung them onto some new Waxed Irish Linen I had recently bought. I changed the small white beads I had originally put on as they were some very pretty miracle beads but they needed to be slightly bigger beads to fill out a bracelet so I changed them to some bigger but still white glass beads as I liked the softness of the lampwork beads with the white and there we have it done and very pretty bracelet that I am very happy with. So happy in fact that I made it on Saturday and am still wearing it now, now how is that for advertising your product!!

Here it is the finished product a very one of a kind beautiful bracelet. Much better than the necklace and a bonus too as I got to use an orphan bead I had in my bead stash for ages thus finishing off the end of the bracelet beautifully.

I have also used some of this time to make some things not just for me, I have also made a deliciously pretty bracelet for my Catherynne's Treats page over on Facebook that needs a new owner!
This is a memory wire bracelet which means it can be stretched out and will always bounce back to its original shape once wound round your wrist. I have filled it with a mix of fantastic lampwork beads, frosted glass beads, crackle beads, long tube spacers and finished off either end with a very pretty flower charm. This is available in my Etsy shop.

Take care and speak soon Catherynne

Hello and welcome to blog number for Catherynne's Treats  2 !!

Well I think my first blog went down alright. I enjoyed writing it and a few of you read it which is a good start although you should all subscribe to it as I will be writing more and then you can hear about my antics easily, whooo!!

I have decided to give myself a good job to do.  It is now the new year and I have been making jewellery for about 7 months now and I have learnt a lot of new techniques since starting so I have been looking through my box of made up jewellery and have taken out loads of it to take apart and re make into something much more different and hopefully much more snazzier for you to snap up and keep forever and look beautiful for you while you wear it.

I don't buy very many of the same beads again and again so the things that I do make are very usually a one of a kind piece.  So the things that I have got on my Treats page are mostly 99.9% unique and totally delicious ( I know I have made a LOT of jewellery for myself and get complimented on it loads too) for the person wearing them.  I also tend to buy things from a variety of different places too so the beads I have are always different but always beautiful though!

Right I am going to sign off now as I have rambled a bit and I need to get my two girlies into bed so I can make pretty things :-)

Take care and speak soon lovelies xx

Thursday 10 January 2013

Hello,

Here we are at the start of my blog.  I thought I would have a bash at it and see what happens.

I am going to write about all sorts of different things mainly because I never sit still long enough to stay focused on the same thing too long (unless it is watching Hercules, man I am hooked on that show).  I will write about my Treats business Catherynne's Treats, my family, my daft dog and anything else that has happened to me that I fancy sharing with you.  I will probably moan about my wrist a bit as it is really getting in the way of making lovely things for myself and others (I broke it at the end of November would you believe roller skating with my eldest daughter and it feels like it is taking forever to mend)!
Yes I know you can roll your eyes as much as you want and tell me I should have known better but we were having fun :-)

I had best introduce myself properly first, I am Miss Catherynne Elizabeth Kessell, I am 34, I live in Staffordshire with my lovely hubby to be (6 months to be precise whoo), our two lovely daughters my eldest being 7 and my youngest being 2, our Collie dog that is off her rocker and LOVES being fussed over and the very quiet but not to be ignored gold fish.

I am a self employed childminder, in my spare time which is what I am going to be writing about I make things, always pretty things but a variety of things.  I love making jewellery of all kinds.  Bracelets, necklaces, earrings and hand bag charms.  I also love to make handbags.  What lady doesn't like a nice handbag huh ???

I decided to write this as something else to do to try and promote my business Catherynne's treats https://www.facebook.com/pages/Catherynnes-Treats/134735356652637?ref=ts&fref=ts but also something else fun to do.

I will post pictures on here for you to see of the things I make and if you like them let me know, or even if you don't like them let me know how you think I can make it better.
Here are a few examples of some of my recent work, let me know what you think ???

This is a fantastic set comprising of a necklace combining ribbon, beads and chain, two sets of earrings and a lovely to wear bracelet
This is a really easy to wear memory wire bracelet that goes with almost any outfit

These are a multi strand necklace and bracelet set with deliciously purple beads that did not show up in this photo for some reason???
